Coronavirus is the world’s biggest problem now. The Coronavirus disease popularly known as COVID-19 is an infectious disease caused by a virus that causes respiratory illness. This disease started off in China in December 2019 spreading at a faster rate and killing a lot of people. Later did we know it is going to cover over 199 countries. The world currently has about 533,015 people infected with the virus as of 27th March 2020.
Ghana recorded its first Coronavirus case on 12th, March 2020 with a doubled increase in number daily.
CRITAC, the Centre for Research, Information, Technology and Advanced Computing has been on the frontline of the issue as a Scientific Research lab in Ghana, ready to help reduce the spread of the diseases with the magic of coding as usual by providing relevant information to the general public for their safety.
CRITAC currently works with the following Laboratories to develop systems to impact life in various sectors.
Software Systems Research Laboratory, Cybersecurity Research Laboratory, Business Intelligence Research Laboratory, Data, Knowledge and Intelligence Laboratory, Artificial Intelligence Laboratory, Machine Learning Research Laboratory, Data Science Laboratory, Robotics Research Laboratory, IoT Research Laboratory, Internet Research Laboratory.
CRITAC knowing this and always ready to help our people, our software development team, lead by Dr. Kester Quist Aphetsi has been working diligently in developing systems that would help people get the latest information about Ghana and the world 24/7.
Notable among them is the COVID website to update people in Ghana and other parts of the world of the latest news about Coronavirus by consolidating data from top global platforms.
Assessing the rapid nature of the way the coronavirus situation is increasing in Ghana, the CRITAC Data Analytics team came up with a Check on the District Risk Assessment levels of Coronavirus in Ghana and the Regional level Risk Assessment Map shown respectively below to help the nation and Ghanaians to know where the various possible risks lie to be able to take the necessary precautions against any heavy spread.
A COVID-19 Test app was created to help people test themselves to know their current condition with the necessary advice per every individual's report. Below is the results of the people who have tested themselves from the various regions of Ghana indicating the risk level. Take this opportunity to also test yourselves here
