CRITAC took part in the session on Balancing Data Privacy & National Security. Our national priorities can affect data privacy. Most countries have less control over the data the citizens generate because they are stored beyond the shores of our country and controlled by giant corporations such as google, facebook, whatsapp etc.. Most Governments do not have direct access and control over such data and their citizens are more vulnerable. Data now is gold but most countries hardly benefit from such data because they are not stored on their local servers. For such countries to benefit from such data and use it to fight crime, fight terrorism, promote commerce, improve education, roads, employment, health etc They to invest in information systems that are useful to their communities and these information systems must improve lives. The systems are supposed to be built and maintained by their youth. This has to be done by engaging the massive graduate human resource that they have. Most countries are wasting the youthful human resources and it is time they engage them. Most tech industries are built by energetic youths supported by government. CRITAC will lead the way. We will provide a platform for others to leverage on to develop their potentials and impact their communities.
